1. Things in the kitchen are already falling apart. I don’t even want to talk about it.
2. The cleaners came today, I wish we could pay someone to clean the house all the time. It is so clean, I don’t want to touch anything. And they used all organic products so there is no stinky chemical smell. This may be the only bright spot in this whole ordeal.
3. Elvis and Violet had a rumble and Violet cut her toe and bled every where. Oy. She will be okay, I think. We bandaged it up.
4. We’ve been watching My So-Called Life on DVD and it is really good (well, except for the cheesy Christmas episode) but kind of depressing. A little too real, you know?

I love the cheesy Christmas episode! Maybe it’s because Juliana Hatfield is one of my favorite musicians, but I still sometimes think about that scene where Bess Armstrong is talking to her, and says, “How did you die?” because until that moment, I didn’t really know she was dead, and her response - “You know, we were just having one of those fights that seems to have you” and Armstrong’s response (”There but for the grace of God”
just gives me goosebumps. Twelve years later.
And lighting the candles at the church.
There’s a different tone to that episode, but I still love it…

I’m wondering if I should rent MSCL. I loved loved it back in the day, but I worry now I would watch it and feel disappointed, like it isn’t as good as my memory thinks it is.

Rent it! It really holds up.
And I think my loathing of Juliana Hatfield did contribute to my loathing of the episode but (I thought) it was too soon to have another ghost episode after the Halloween episode. Some parts were good (Jordan being the only one who knew what was happening to Ricky) but the “ghost” parts just seemed forced.

My memories are twelve years old or so, so you’ll have to bear with me, but, if I remember correctly, the only disappointing episode for me ever was that very Halloween episode you mentioned. That’s the ghost story that seemed forced to me, not the Christmas episode.
Yes, those scenes I recalled above are all from 12-year old high school memories. That’s how powerful I thought they were. I’ve got to buy the DVD set sometime and see if it holds up for me. I did watch episodes when MTV reran it a few times.

I am so sorry that things are falling apart with the kitchen… have you called them and told them what is going on?

Oh my! The kitchen isn’t holding up? That is really too bad. I hope that you call them and that they take care of it for you.
I used to watch MSCL but it was depressing and I stopped watching it because of that.
