I keep missing work lately. Well, I can’t say I miss it, but I’ve had an awful lot of no work days lately. Thanksgiving knocked out couple, then the funeral last week (which was very very cold and snowy and odd since no one was terribly close to or fond of the person) I’ve barely worked a full week in a month. And both Christmas and New Year’s fall on work days so the trend will continue. I really, really want to stop working there soon. I have some new opportunities coming up in the world of food and blogging and it is quickly getting to the point where having 2 days a week to deal with it just isn’t enough. Between the writing, recipe testing and responding to literally dozens of emails and requests each day it is really becoming more and more of a full time job. Unfortunately, it is a sporadically paying job so I can’t really count on regular income from it. I do feel like I can parlay it into something even bigger, but it is hard to get things done with such little time to do it in. If I could only stay home, I could really concentrate on making more contacts in publishing and working on my pitches. I do have to say that I am rather pleased with how much I have published/been written about in the last year. Since February really. My first glossy magazine article will be published this Spring and I’ve already had a lot published online and been interviewed-including a magazine cover story about me- locally and nationally.

In good news: at my company’s surprisingly lavish holiday party, each employee was given $200 in cash. Then I came home to a huge water bill (still contesting the $200 one from May) which was upsetting, but also a $50 Hanukkah check from Matt’s aunt. Then today I was pleased to find that $300  had been deposited  from some blogads that had run  in September and not paid until now. So, now we have money for my car payment, the phone and the water bill without it having to come out of anyone’s paycheck. My favorite way to pay bills.
