We decided I am going to switch to working 2 days a week instead of 3 with the idea that sometime (hopefully soon) I will just quit altogether. I think it will make it easier to get things done. I will have more days that people can contact me, more time to cook/write and contact people so I can get published more. I already have some articles coming out this Spring in a couple of regional magazines and would really like to get some more out there.

I don’t think it will make much a difference pay-wise (we’ve already had plenty of weeks where I worked only 2 days due to holidays/funerals/emergencies) and having an extra day at home will make things much easier and will hopefully lead to opportunities that pay much more than I would have made in that one day. As it is I am working many more hours from home than I am out. Having an extra day off means I can get more done, be able to connect with people easier and not have to cram so much into 2 days.  And maybe one day soon I can quit altogether but working less makes the prospect of working there a little easier.

I am going to tell them I need Fridays off. That way I would only work Tuesdays and Thursdays. I was thinking Tuesday would make the most sense to take off (so I would have 3 consecutive days “off” to work) but I think Fridays might make more sense- trips to NYC will be easier as will other travel and it would be good pacing for the blog if I knew I could cook and post on Friday in addition to everything else I am doing. Plus I have class on Fridays now. As it is, working  on Thursdays and Fridays, in order to post anything after Wednesday (especially in the winter when I can’t take pictures after 5PM) I have to make multiple things on Monday or Wednesday which cuts into my time for other writing and pitch making. And if I don’t post at least 3xs a week, my stats go down and that means less money from ads and less attention to the blog, which, in turn means less attention and credibility for my writing.
