So, we were able to get all of our files off the old, dead hard drive. Thank god. And we came to a few conclusions. Instead of buying a new computer for me this year, we are upgrading the current one (we already bought a new hard drive, so we are getting more RAM, a new graphics card, new keyboard and speakers) for under $200 which is much, much less than a new computer. Matt doesn’t use the computer as much as I do at home anyway, so having two seemed silly and if this one is faster than it is now, there is no reason to get a new one.
We also decided to get a new little computer desk and move the computer to the dining room. It’s on the dining room table now (we needed room to spread out while the repairs were going on) and I love having it here. There is plenty of room and it is great not having to run up and down the steps to check recipes and write things down, I am only a few steps from the kitchen. No more printing out recipes either.
Finally, we are getting a puppy! A lady from a rescue group is doing a home visit Sunday afternoon for this really cute half doxie puppy we found online. So cross your fingers we get it! I’ve been wanting a little sister for Violet and Elvis and I have more time to be home now so it seemed like the time to do it. If we don’t get this puppy, we are going to keep looking. Actually warmer weather might be better (they can stay outside longer) but it is hard to find puppies through rescue groups so if this one is available, we’ll take it. Spring isn’t too far off.

I so hope you get her. And I can’t wait to hear what name you’ve chosen for her!
That is great about the hard drive rescue and computer relocation.

Yay for puppies and fixing computers. I will keep my fingers crossed that the home visit goes well and the pup is yours.
Thanks for the Valentine!

Good luck with the puppy! My sister is getting one this weekend. Now I have puppy-envy!
