We’ve been watching Felicity season 1 and it is pretty good. Not an all time favorite but it has the good quality of when you think it is going to go somewhere predictable and hokey (case in point, Noel has to pretend to be a girl’s boyfriend to get a good deal on a vending machine from her apparent Russian mob family) it veers away (instead of the Noel getting in trouble with the mob for some reason-like getting caught with Felicity when some relative comes to visit the Russian girl-her brother figures it out and just thanks him for keeping an eye on his sister) and ends without any unnecessary high drama. It has a very My So-Called Life feel about it too. Possibly because the guy who plays Brian Kracow has a some what upsetting cameo in a few episodes but more likely because of the endless obsessing over things Felicity does (like Angela), the voice over (like Angela), the smart girl in love with a barely literate but cute guy storyline (Ben is Jordan Catalano v.2.0- how did he get into fake NYU? ). The only thing missing is Rayanne (Julie isn’t quite there despite giving off a self professed slut vibe), the little sister and Felicity is more of an overacheiver than Angela was. Anyway, I am enjoying it more than I thought I would and it is actually rather soothing.
